Practical guidance for guests from the UK

Coming to Mallorca from the UK

Vida Libre is a small residential burnout recovery retreat in Mallorca, Spain. Since 2007, we have accompanied founders, self-employed professionals and senior leaders through exhaustion and burnout — individually, discreetly and a short flight from home.

A short flight, and a great deal of distance

Palma is around two and a half hours from London, with direct flights from most British airports. That is near enough to arrange at short notice, and far enough that the office, the inbox and the daily demands genuinely stay behind you. A little distance makes the work considerably easier.

A familiar setting, in your own language if you wish

Coaching, medical consultations, yoga and every conversation over dinner take place in English if you prefer, and our team also speaks German and Spanish. Nothing is lost in translation at the moment it matters most.

Discreet, and never more than four guests

We welcome three guests at a time as a rule, with a maximum of four. You stay in a family finca rather than a clinic, in complete confidence, and no one need know more than you choose to tell them.

Intensive one-to-one coaching, six days a week

Following a thorough psychological assessment, we develop a plan tailored to you. Our approach is resource-oriented throughout: it begins with your abilities and your life experience rather than with a diagnosis — and it is individual work, not a group programme.

When the usual pace is no longer sustainable

Many of the people who come to us have gradually worn themselves out. They have carried a company, a practice or a team for years, and the tiredness and sleeplessness that follow are the body's way of saying that something is no longer right.

  • Sleep that no longer restores you, however long you spend in bed
  • A sense of being permanently switched on, even at weekends
  • Irritability, or a flatness where enthusiasm used to be
  • Decisions that once came easily now taking days
  • Physical symptoms your GP cannot quite account for
  • A quiet feeling that you cannot keep going like this much longer
Recognising the signs of burnout

Travelling from Britain: the practical side

Palma is reached in roughly two and a quarter hours from London, and there are direct flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh for most of the year. We collect you from the airport and drive you the forty minutes to Felanitx, so the only arrangement you need to make is the flight itself.

  • No waiting list. Where private residential care in the UK often means weeks before a place is free, we can usually offer a date within a fortnight, sometimes sooner.
  • One hour ahead of the UK. If you must keep one call a day with the office, the working day still overlaps comfortably.
  • No paperwork. British passport holders travel visa-free; a GHIC or travel insurance is sensible, and our doctor handles anything medical on site.
  • Continuity at home. With your consent we will write to your GP or private consultant before you leave, and coaching continues by telephone or video once you are back.

Most British guests stay two to three weeks and travel out on a Sunday. For what the programme itself involves, see our executive burnout retreat and the burnout retreat in Spain; all-inclusive rates are listed on prices and booking.
