Practical guidance for guests from the United States

Coming to Mallorca from the United States

Vida Libre is a small residential burnout recovery retreat in Mallorca, Spain. Since 2007, we have accompanied American founders, self-employed professionals and senior leaders through exhaustion and burnout — individually, discreetly and far from everyday demands.

Genuine distance from work

An ocean and a time zone between you and the office turns out to be a considerable help. Away from meetings and messages, in a warm and quiet setting, rest becomes possible again — and the coaching can go deeper than it would at home between calls.

Complete privacy, in a home rather than a clinic

We welcome three guests at a time as a rule, with a maximum of four. There are no wards, no schedules shared with strangers and no one who needs to know you are here. What you tell us stays with us.

Intensive one-to-one work, six days a week

After a thorough psychological assessment we build a plan around you. The work is resource-oriented: it starts from your abilities and your experience rather than a diagnosis, and it is individual coaching rather than group sessions.

Medical care alongside the coaching

Your stay includes a detailed medical consultation and blood analysis, with a doctor and a registered nurse close at hand throughout, an individual fitness programme, daily yoga, guided meditation, weekly massage and time with our horses.

Straightforward travel from the United States

In spring, summer and autumn there are even direct flights from New York to Palma de Mallorca; in winter the island is still easily reached via Madrid, Barcelona, London or Frankfurt. We collect you from the airport on arrival and take you back on departure, and both transfers are included.

When distance creates the space to recover

Exhausted, without strength and without motivation — these are the familiar signs of burnout. Many people press on by sheer force of will, and the sleeplessness and constant tiredness that follow are the body's way of saying that something is no longer right.

The sooner someone accepts support, the more they are spared, and the easier it becomes to find the way back to a good life. A restorative period away is something you, your family and your business will all benefit from.

Recognising the signs of burnout

Travelling from the United States: the practical side

Most American guests fly overnight into Madrid, Barcelona, Paris or London and take a short connection to Palma; in summer there are seasonal direct services from New York. We meet you at Palma airport and drive you the forty minutes to the finca, and your first day is deliberately left clear so that you can sleep.

  • No visa. US passport holders travel to Spain visa-free for stays of up to ninety days.
  • Six to nine hours ahead. If a standing call matters, the late afternoon here is the American morning — and for most guests that gap is precisely the point.
  • Genuine distance. Nobody from your professional world will run into you at the airport, and no US insurer or employer receives a record of your stay. You pay privately, in confidence.
  • After you fly home. Coaching continues by video at a time that suits your zone, for as long as it is useful.

Given the journey, American guests usually stay three weeks. For the programme itself, see our executive burnout retreat and the burnout retreat in Spain; all-inclusive rates are listed on prices and booking.
